With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji (Brahm ji), and with the benign patronage of our Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh ji and under the spirited leadership of our dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar ji and under the able guidance and support of Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, Registrar Prof (Dr.) Aneet Kumar and Dean UIET Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Kaur, the department of Computer Science and Engineering under the aegis of IQAC and IIC cell of SBBSU, organized Internal Smart India Hackathon, SIH 2024 on 12th September 2024.
The Smart India Hackathon, aligned with the "Make in India" initiative, is a key driver of the Digital India vision, aiming to foster digital literacy and transform development into a mass movement. Since its inception in 2017, the MHRD, AICTE, i4c, and Persistent Systems have been organizing this event to spark creative thinking among young innovators. This platform encourages out-of-the-box ideas, serving as a conduit for transforming innovative concepts into real-world products and businesses. As a unique model of innovation, it is a continuous product development competition where technology students tackle challenges presented by State Ministries, Central Ministries, industry professionals, or student innovators. For Smart India Hackathon 2024, there were 68 hardware and 178 software problem statements presented for innovative solutions.
The anchoring team included Er. Harjit Kaur and Er. Hitakshi, both working as Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering department. Student teams were constituted and managed by Er. Manpreet Singh, Assistant Professor CSE along with Mr. Devashish, B.Tech CSE 7th semester, Student coordinator. Er. Akashdeep Singh, Assistant Professor CSE, sent invitations to the evaluation jury members of SIH 2024. All faculty and technical staff of Computer Science Engineering department, worked in team to make Internal SIH 2024 successful.
Evaluation team comprised of Mr. Bonish Singla (Director) Future Finder, Mohali Harjit Kaur (Manager) Future Finder, Mohali and Mr Chetan (Technical Head) Bonntech Solution Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Harsh Choudary (Project Manager) Bonntech Solution Pvt. Ltd. Evaluation criteria followed by jury members included novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression. After thorough evaluation of proposed ideas to various problem statements, 6 teams with total of 36 students were shortlisted for Finale. At the end of the hackathon, participation certificates were distributed to all the students.
The real outcome of hackathon was achieved, with participation in nationwide initiative, Internal Smart India Hackathon 2024 which provided students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving.The shortlisted teams for SIH2024 were-
